New York State Cannabis Regulations
Legal Age & Purchase Limits
- Must be 21+ years of age to purchase cannabis products
- Adults can possess up to 3 ounces of cannabis
- Up to 24 grams of concentrated cannabis for personal use
Where You Can Use Cannabis
Adults may smoke or vape cannabis wherever smoking tobacco is allowed under the smoke-free air laws, with a few exceptions. Cannabis use is prohibited in:
- Schools and on school grounds
- Places where smoking tobacco is prohibited
- Motor vehicles
- Outdoor dining areas at restaurants
Driving & Cannabis
It is illegal to drive while impaired by cannabis. Keep cannabis products in a sealed container and out of reach while driving.
